The Department of Biometry is in the School of Mathematical Sciences of the C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Navrongo. It was carved out of the then Department of Statistics in December, 2020.
Currently, the Department of Biometry offers training in Postgraduate programmes in Biometry, namely: MSc, MPhil and PhD Biometry. Processes are far advanced to mount undergraduate programmes in addition to these postgraduate programmes.
The training in our programmes are generally multidisciplinary allowing students to choose elective courses across Departments in the school and other allied Departments in different schools of the University to further enhance their expertise in their chosen areas of specialization. The programmes are generally practically oriented with significant computer-related training embedded. This enables the students to integrate the theory with practical training making them well cut out for the world of work.
The Department has experienced and committed staff with diverse expertise that span over different fields of research. This, coupled with the collaboration with other Departments in the University makes the Department of Biometry the preferred destination for prospective students who desired to study Biometry and its related programmes.
Well motivated and enthusiastic students who want to undertake original research and contribute to knowledge are welcome to join us. We welcome you to visit our website for more information about the Department.
Our Vision
The Department of Biometry seeks to be the citadel of research and training in all fields related to Biometry.
Our Mission
The mission of the Department is to serve as a cradle of expertise in Biomedical training, mainly focus on quantitative methods, promote responsible and ethical use of biometrical methods, and foster collaborative research with other Departments primarily in CKT-UTAS.
Dr. Jakperik Dioggban is a Senior Lecturer in Statistics. He holds a PhD in Mathematics (Statistics) from the Pan African University, Institute of Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation, Kenya. Earlier, he had obtained MSc Applied Statistics and BSc Mathematical Sciences (Statistics Option) with First Class Honors both from the University for Development Studies, Tamale. His research interest includes Survey Theory, Experimental Design and Survival Analysis. In all these research areas, theory and practical work are combined to espouse useful knowledge and service to society.
He is well researched and has several articles in Peer Reviewed Journals of high repute and has a number of conference presentations.
